February 1996 saw the birth of Kwesi Taadi, a Ghanaian musician whose aim is to create music exclusive to him, giving his listeners a one-of-a-kind experience. Born Henry Tadi Baidoo, the singer has been involved with music since childhood. He developed a love for music from spending time with his grandparents, parents and siblings in Abonko, Mankessim.
With a passion for reading and writing music, Kwesi honed his songwriting skills while attending Saltpond Senior High School and continued developing his music skills during his days at Delcam College.
Kwesi Taadi emerged onto the music scene in 2015, dabbling into genres such as highlife, hiplife, hip-hop and afrobeats, a reflection of the genres he mostly listens to. The singer believes in expressing himself through his music and takes inspiration from the likes of Okomfour Kwadee and Kofi Kinaata.
He also draws inspiration from “the hard life he experienced.” Kwesi Taadi takes pride in sharing his story and encourages his fellow musicians to do the same. To him, there is always “someone somewhere wants to listen to their stories.”
Kwesi Taadi classifies his creative process into four stages, inspiration, illumination, evaluation and verification, all defined by patience. Alluding to the fact that making music is not done overnight, Taadi believes in taking time and persevering when creating music.
He is very open to corrections and criticisms; the singer has a knack for reworking his craft until he gets a perfect product.
The emerging artist has worked with Ponobiom, Jay Bhad, Black Sherif, and Quamina MP. His dream is to collaborate with Kofi Kinaata, whose lyrical ability impresses him and to whose story he relates. Kwesi Taadi is currently gearing towards the release of his EP, The Walkman Tape.
